About Us

The Academy is a government funded training college that works in partnership with apprentices, full time students, schools, colleges and employers across Yorkshire. Since 1999 we have specialised in delivering outstanding training for the hairdressing and beauty therapy industry. Our training contracts also cover Functional Skills in English and maths and employability skills including customer service and retailing products and services.

The Academy offers a range of City & Guilds hair and beauty courses including hairdressing, beauty therapy, barbering and nails services. Students tell us they enjoy our supportive learning environment where they can learn new skills and form new friendships.

We work with over 200 students each year at our purpose built training colleges in Malton and Scarborough. In our training salons, which are open to the public, students will develop their practical skills and our fully qualified tutors share a wide range of industry experience.

Whether you are thinking about training, or you are interested in visiting our training salons, we look forward to hearing from you.

Lindsay Burr MBE

What Elliot said about his time at The Academy:

"I enjoy working in the salon and am now building up regular clients. I feel that what I have been taught at The Academy has helped me to prepare for work in a busy salon. After doing my Level 2 Apprenticeship I wanted to learn more so I enrolled on the Level 3 Hairdressing course which really helped me advance my cutting and colouring skills."
